Shore to Shore excursion 45 km in 3 days

The “Shore to Shore” excursion is a 3-day adventure along the Ardèche, perfect for enjoying the unique diversity of the landscape. Between spectacular gorges, agricultural plains, old and picturesque villages and historical remains such as the old mill, this part of the route will show you a new setting every time.

This trip will also take you to symbolic places such as, the majestic Cirque de Gens, the passage through the Pont d’Arc and the entrance to the Ardèche Gorges Nature Reserve. With many stops for a refreshing swim or a picnic in the great outdoors, this trip is a real excursion for relaxation and discovery.

The stages of the 3-day tour

Day 1

Quiet navigation to Vallon Pont d’Arc, where you will spend the first night in a campsite.

You must reserve this campsite yourself.

Day 2

Paddle towards the Ardèche Gorge for a magical day. You will spend the night in one of the equipped bivouacs in the heart of the gorge:

  • Bivouac Gaud (3 hours of paddling) or
  • Bivouac Gournier (4.5 hours of paddling).

The reservation of your bivouac is mandatory and not included in our prices. Remember to reserve the bivouac before the canoe trip.

Day 3

You start your adventure through the canyon again. Here you are surrounded by majestic cliffs and wild nature until the end of your trip in Sauze.

Note: Before you make a reservation, check the opening times and availability of the bivouacs.

* 2nd option: If you prefer to leave your car in Sauze (Saint-Martin d’Ardèche), the arrival point of your canoe trip, we will organise a shuttle for you on the first day to take you to the starting point of your trip (no waiting in the evening; 15 minutes to the highway).

  • Meeting point in Sauze at 8.15 am
  • Departure from Sauze by bus to Vallon Pont d’Arc
  • Arrival at our station in Vallon Pont d’Arc (CSVP) at 9.30 am: information, initiation, departure for the descent
  • From 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm: free arrival of the descent (your car is on site)

What not to forget to properly prepare your activity

  • Old sneakers or watersandals (shoes which keep at the feet). For your security, avoid shoelaces
  • Swimsuit
  • T-shirt (beware of sunburns)
  • Cap
  • Sunglasses, without forgetting the little string to attache them
  • Camping stuff (tent, sleeping bag…)
  • Cold food, or to warm up (a communal barbecue is available in the bivouacs, barbecue to rent at the campsites)
  • Enough water (at least 1 litre per day and per person), food is available on the campsites and in the bivouacs
  • Change of clothes and warm clothes for the evening
  • Avoid bringing jewelry and other non-waterproof, fragile or valuable items
